Julia Überbacher has not only completed the college "Arts and Crafts and Object Design" at the Glasfachschule Kramsach, but also the study programmes "Information Design" as well as "Communication, Media, Sound and Interaction Design" at the FH Joanneum in Graz.
The production of her artwork is guided by a fascination with different design possibilities, combining not only a variety of media, but also analogue and digital methods. Apart from her artistic research in relation to the medium itself and the related complexity and diversity of the processes of representation, her illustrations and animations are characterized by a focus on current socio-political and environmental issues. Therefore, her artworks critically reflect – either explicitly or metaphorically – human behaviour towards each other as well as towards nature, but also our everyday challenges and willingness to compromise in order to achieve a goal.
Artworks by Julia Überbacher have already been shown in various group exhibitions, e. g. at the Glasgalerie Linz or at the art institution esc medien kunst labor in Graz.
